Our Beginnings
A new kind of foundation for learning
Wonderful Foundations seeks to change the way kids experience school. We purchase the buildings that house schools, then help them get what they need to become nourishing spaces for education — funding to improve their buildings, buy equipment for learning and exploration, and create spaces where every kid feels encouraged to receive and exchange ideas.

Our Approach
A more efficient way to fund schools
When governments pay for public school, they rarely pay 100% of what is needed to maintain buildings and create opportunities for engaging, well-rounded learning. This forces schools to fundraise endlessly, year after year. We saw a better way: a partnership between investors, the government, and the generosity of the public.
Wonderful Foundations borrows money to purchase school buildings — and then works with each school as a partner, not a typical landlord. We set aside a portion of rent to better the schools through annual grants and capital improvements. Combined with public donations, this funds essential upgrades that transform the experiences of the kids who learn there.
To give schools a stake in their physical spaces, we fully intend to transfer the title of the buildings to the schools once the acquisition financing is paid off — a fundamental tenet of our tax-exempt mission to the IRS.
